Regina Hill Ave SDA Church Burrito Ministry
The Regina Hill Ave SDA Church Burrito Ministry started sharing food with people at Victoria Park and downtown Regina Public Library in August of 2024.
This ministry has been given the opportunity to serve God and others through handing out burritos, homemade deserts, some carrots sticks and bottles of water. This has given the ministry an opportunity to mingle with people in need, get to know them and to be known. Through empathy and ministering to their physical needs, this opens doors for the ministry to address the spiritual needs if required, and inviting them to come and see. Our ministry began actively evangelizing around month 10 by offering spiritual food (literature), praying with people when the opportunity presents itself, talking about God and listening to people’s experiences, struggles, challenges and victories. There has been an overwhelming acceptance to our ministry.
One of the highlights of our week is having the children join us in preparing the burrito bags. What a blessing to have them interested in what we are doing and willing to help. Asking questions about who, why, where and wanting to participate. They have become a strong addition to the team; a joy to be around. God is good!
THE MISSION FIELD THAT KEEPS ON GIVING
Another cold day out there. There has been a consistent need for mitts and toques on days like these and every once in a while someone in need of a jacket. If you ever have some extra time and a jacket or 2 you’re not using anymore. I encourage you to go to the downtown library area and wait for the opportunity to share with someone in need. The blessing that keeps on giving. The warmth of the spirit covers all involved in such an act. This has been our experience. Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” There is great joy and fulfillment when sharing with someone in need. I’ve come to know it as medicine, a form of healing for my selfish, self centered ways.
